For most first-time visitors, take the Keikyu Line from Haneda Airport (羽田空港) to Shinagawa (品川) and change to JR there; take the Tokyo Monorail if you are staying around Hamamatsucho (浜松町) or the east side of the JR Yamanote Line; take the Airport Limousine bus if you have large suitcases and a hotel in Shinjuku (新宿); and take a fixed-fare taxi after the last train or when three or four of you share.

How do I take Keikyu to Shinagawa?

Tap an IC card or buy a ticket
Keikyu publishes its IC card and ticket fares on its own site. If you buy a ticket for a JR station, press the “JR線品川乗換 (Transfer to JR Lines)” button on the machine.[6] To choose a card before you land, see the IC card comparison.
Change to JR at Shinagawa
Haneda Airport estimates about 15 minutes to Shinagawa.[1] At Shinagawa, change to the JR Yamanote Line or other JR lines.
By Monorail instead: the Monorail gates at Terminal 3 are also in the 2nd floor Arrival Lobby.[7],[1] Ride to Monorail Hamamatsucho for ¥520 (¥519 by IC card) and change to JR at Hamamatsucho.[8],[9],[11]
If you continue to Kyoto the same day, the Tokyo to Kyoto Shinkansen guide covers the next leg.
Which pass covers this?
The Japan Rail Pass review explains which airport trains the pass covers. Without a pass, an IC card is the simplest ticket: the Monorail has its own IC fare, and Keikyu publishes IC and ticket fares on its site.[8],[9],[11]
What if I land late at night?
At Terminal 3 the taxi stand is stop 21 on 1F, in the 2nd lane; at Terminal 1 use stops 2 or 18, and at Terminal 2 stops 3 or 19, which serve destinations other than Kawasaki, Yokohama, Yokosuka and Miura.[3],[4]
On the day, check Keikyu’s Train Status line at the top of its airport-access site before you head for the platform.[5]
