Things to do in Chubu
Chubu stretches from the old streets of Kanazawa to Takayama and the Hida area, so the real planning question is which base to choose and which outings fit around it. Some sights need a booked bus seat, some need a phone call ahead, and some only reward you when the weather is clear.
Start with things to do in Kanazawa for the gardens, chaya districts and loop bus, then the Takayama guide for the old town and Jinya. If Shirakawa-go is on your list, the Shirakawa-go day trip from Kanazawa shows the bus plan that makes it work without a tour.
For a mountain view, the Shinhotaka Ropeway from Takayama explains when the ride pays off. Kaga Onsen compares the bath towns near Kanazawa, and the Noto Peninsula guide tracks what has reopened. This page lists more, including geiko shows, the ninja temple and autumn maples at Natadera.
